About

Let me start with what I’m not.

I’m not an influencer, I don’t do sponsored posts, and I don’t work with brands. Those aren’t goals I aspire to.

Who am I then and what kind of food blogger am I?

My name is Connie Veneracion. I’m a retired lawyer, retired journalist, mom, wife… I’m someone who likes to cook, take photos and share my creations. I’ve been a food blogger for almost two decades.

What is “A Cook’s Diary”?

It started out as small sections in two of my food blogs. Food essays and production notes, mostly. I’m putting them all together in this blog for a number of reasons.

The first is posterity.

The second is because they really don’t belong in what are primarily recipe blogs.

The third and probably the most significant reason is that I want to go back to real food writing — the kind that is thoughtful and insightful rather than clickbaity.

That said, I hope that this blog will be helpful and informative, yet still be pleasurable and entertaining.

Will there be recipes in this blog? Yes, eventually.
